Why doesn't it tell us the name of the gun on blueprints?!?!

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 01:05 PM PDT

Are the devs really this stupid? I'm looking at the new blueprints released to see if any are for some of the guns I commonly use and almost none of them tell you what gun the blueprint is for.

Do they really expect us to be able to identify the type of assault rifle it is just by looking at it? Seems unbelievable to me that they can't notate somewhere "this blueprint is for the M4" etc.

A couple of the new skins from the newest update on CODTracker. These look to be fully licensed and not just lookalikes. Pretty cool.

Escape from...Verdansk. A dream about an exfiltration survival game mode.

This is going to be a long post so buckle up.

    Introduction

On consoles, the lack of Hardcore FPS games is disheartening and so sometimes, I catch myself daydreaming about an Escape From Tarkov and Warzone crossover. Today, I'm putting these daydreams in writing and see what you guys think about it. I'll try to be as clear as possible as to how I imagine this mode to be, and hope to create discussion about it.

However, we all know that, even if we want to, such a huge thing isn't going to happen, especially at this point in the game lifecycle.

Well bois, buckle up and let's go :

    1. What is the goal of the mode ?

In this mode, you and a dozen other players are deployed on a map, with a loadout you created following an economy system. Your goal is to loot, survive, and exfil on a set exfiltration point. However, if you die, you lose all your stuff, forever, so play carefully. If you exfil succesfully, all the loot is yours to use in another raid.

This mode is based on survival, loot, and more on the hardcore side and not so much on the "kill everyone" side.

Let's dive in the details, shall we?

    2. Life and HUD settings

    No HUD

For this mode, the settings are basically those of the Realism game modes. Multiple reasons for this :

    1. The lack of HUD makes for a more immersive experience, pushing players to use their eyes, ears and map knowledge to spot and kill enemies.
    2. The TTK in normal game modes is quick enough to be punishing, and the added damage to headshots makes for a rewarding experience. On top of that, in this mode, you can armor up (as in Warzone), so the TTK isn't very punishing, but still hardcore enough to keep the game tense.

The only thing changing from multiplayer is that your life doesn't get back up, you have to heal yourself (could work with stim).

    3. Economy

As I said, before dropping into a game, you have to gear up and pick your loadout based on an economy system. So everyone now has an inventory. Did my best to try and balance that :

    • Everyone starts with the same basic weapons and amount of money in their inventory. So everyone starts with10 AK-47s, 10 1911's, a few stims and about 15'000$.
    • There is a market, where you can buy guns, accessories or gadgets for your next raid. Balancing the economy is quiet hard, but let's say a stim would cost 200$, a handgun would be 500$, a low tier rifle would be 2000$, mid tier rifle 5000$, high tier rifle 10'000$. On top of that, accessories would cost between 100$ and 500$ each. You can also buy ammo and armor in the market.
    • You have to buy perks for your loadouts. Those are very expensive.
    • The idea is that you can sell what you looted in your raids, creating a player-regulated economy system, balancing the high tier/low tier weapons and everything.

    4. Loadouts

Loadouts is the same as for the rest of the game, where you can pick and chose weapons and perks, however, the economy system is in place and you have to buy everything to create your loadout, before each raid.

Do you want to go absolutely loaded and get a full loadout, taking the risk of losing everything if you die or are you going in with only a pistol and sneak in to loot ?

    5. Loot

Loot is on the ground on the maps or in the boxes we all know so well, separated by tiers in the same way as Warzone. Loot contains :

    • Guns
    • Ammo
    • Accessories
    • Money
    • Gadgets
    • Stims

If you die, your loot is lost and you have to create a new loadout before going into a raid.

The accessories is very complicated, as there are so much in the games. However, what would be possible is making tiers for each and every categories and then we chose which one we use.

Ex. : You loot a green underbarrel accessory. The green tier includes a set of accessories. In the loadout menu, you can chose what accessory you want to use in the limits of the tier.

    Imaginary accessories tiers

    6. Maps

The Verdansk map is the perfect playground for such a mode, however, I cut the map as different maps, so the gameplay is kind of streamlined and we can limit the amount of players in a game to about 12 to 20.

First, here's an overview of how I would cut Verdansk in different maps :

    Map overview

And here are some close ups of the maps :

Note: red = map limits, green = exfil points

    Dam

    Military base

    Quarry

    Farmland

    Port + Prison

    Downtown

    Stadium + TV Station

Airport + Storage Town + Spuerstore

    Boneyard

    Promenades

    Train Station + Hospital

Of course, the maps would have to be tested to define a number of player and to see if the map isn't too big.

    Conclusion

Well, thanks for following me through my dreams about an exfil mode.

Of course, everything is far from perfect, but the idea here is to put down a basis we can all discuss and elaborate and perfect. I hope we can spark some discussion and maybe even give ideas to IW for a future COD.

    Stay frosty.
